Jeans are often described as one of the most satisfying garments to make - full of details that are lovely to sew and add together to create something you’ll feel truly proud of making.

The Ash Jeans are a versatile foundation for your jeans making journey. A stretch jean with all the details you’d expect, they have four different leg styles to choose from: skinny, slim, flare or wide.

The jeans have a zip fly and a comfortable mid rise. There’s neat curved pockets on the front with a coin pocket and patch pockets on the back. There’s a classic yoke, waistband and belt loops, and to make your jeans extra special we’ve included an exclusive g&g imitation leather patch to sew on the back.

This kit features Cone Mills stretch denim, a high-quality denim woven with a small amount of elastane for comfort and movement.  Cone Mills are widely regarded as one of the world leaders in denim making, producing fabric known for its durability and excellent recovery.

Lauren’s extensive top tips videos will walk you through everything from cutting your denim and creating gorgeous topstitching, to inserting the zip fly and getting a great fit on your jeans. The result will be a professional quality pair of jeans made to fit you that will rival the ready-to-wear pairs in your wardrobe!

There is enough fabric in this kit to make any view of this pattern. Full details of kit contents can be found below.

Fabric

We have sourced the most amazing stretch denim for this project direct from the Cone Mills Factory. Their denim is renowned for its superior quality and the stretch denim in particular for its special 'S-gene' spandex - believed to be the best for comfort and recovery, making baggy knees a thing of the past!

Cone Mills’ S-Gene technology is a patented process that produces durable stretch denim with excellent recovery, by combining cotton and polyester fibers with Lycra. This innovation ensures the denim maintains its shape and won’t sag or grow multiple sizes throughout the day like lower-quality denim.

The denim comes in a raw form and will naturally fade and wear-in over time. At first, it will have the deep, saturated look you see in the photos, but with regular wear and washing it will lighten and develop character. Just a heads-up - before the fading begins, you may want to steer clear of white sofas!

This denim is 91% cotton, 7% recycled polyester and 2% spandex which gives it just the right amount of stretch for the Ash Jeans pattern. It is a mid weight denim with a weight of 365gsm / 10.75oz.

To line the front pockets we've sourced cotton poplin with a cute micro dot design. This stable fabric is 100% cotton with a navy background and white dots.
