Thora is an easy to wear pattern that works just as well paired with sandals on holiday as it does layered into everyday life at home. The softly structured shape is relaxed without feeling oversized, with enough ease to skim the body, keeping you cool and comfy.
With options to make it as either a dress or a top, you can choose how you'd prefer to style Thora in your summer wardrobe. Simple lines and clever shaping are the focus here. On the front, a neat collar stand flows into a soft V-shaped placket, finished with a cleverly constructed pleat at the base that adds movement and ease through the front.
The subtle cap sleeve is finished with a bias-bound edge, giving a clean finish and just a little coverage through the shoulder. Or alternatively, Lauren demonstrates how to make your Thora sleeveless in her top tips video, giving you more options for the warmer weather.
The dress version follows the same gentle A-line shape as the top, sitting at an easy knee-length with double-ended darts at the back for added shaping and fit.
An optional waist tie gives you the choice of wearing the dress loose and relaxed or pulled in for a bit more definition. The tie can also be made extra long if you'd prefer to tie it round the front. And hidden in the side seams there are practical in-seam pockets too - of course!
Kits contain enough fabric to make the top or dress.
The Thora Kit is available in all three designs of our exclusive new fabrics: Thora's Charms, Bougainvillea Blooms and Aegean Waves
Thora’s Charms draws inspiration from the symbols and motifs featured in our popular Goddess Power print, reworked here through delicate embroidered details scattered across the fabric.
The detailed embroidery is a vibrant blue with accents of gold and features stars, hearts, waves, moons and other Goddess inspired symbols, giving the fabrics a lovely texture.
Bougainvillea Blooms takes the trailing florals from our much-loved Bougainvillea Island print and reimagines them through beautifully embroidered flowers. Inspired by bougainvillea climbing through sun-soaked Mediterranean streets, the embroidered blooms create lovely movement on the garment.
The embroidery is soft and delicate, meaning the fabric still has a gentle drape and is comfortable to wear.
The Aegean Waves design features little boats bobbing on sunlit waves, with soft painterly blue brushstrokes inspired by the colours and movement of the Aegean Sea.
Taken from the much-loved details within our original Bougainvillea Island print, this design brings a softer, more relaxed feel to the fabric whilst still keeping that Mediterranean holiday mood running through it.
All three fabrics are on a viscose linen base, meaning they are breathable and lovely to wear in the warmer months. The embroidered fabrics are 80% viscose, 20% linen and the Aegean Waves fabric is 70% viscose, 30% linen.
The Thora Top & Dress pattern included in the kit is yours to keep. Not only will you have the full sized A0 print out, with all the variations and styles inside your kit box, you also have access to the PDF files for your future reference. This means you can remake Thora in different fabrics and combinations long after your kit make is complete - yay!
The Thora top and dress has a relaxed style with thoughtful details that make it feel polished whilst still being easy to wear every day.
Thora features a neat collar stand with a soft V-shaped placket that has a cleverly constructed pleat at the base. This adds ease through the front, whilst the gently A-line shape skims the body without feeling oversized. The subtle cap sleeve is finished with a bias bound hem. Or alternatively, you can leave it sleeveless for a summery feel.
The dress version follows the A-line shape of the top to sit at knee-length, with double-ended darts at the back for added shaping and fit. An optional waist tie lets you wear it loose or more defined depending on the look you prefer. Of course there are practical in-seam pockets too and a lovely deep hem to help the garment drape beautifully.

The Thora top and dress would be suitable for a confident beginner or intermediate dressmaker. The top version has less construction elements to it - techniques used include constructing a placket, sewing binding and sewing a collar stand. The dress version also includes back waist darts, in-seam pockets and ties.
To complete this project successfully you'll need a regular sewing machine along with Lauren's essential recommended sewing tools.
