The dress features a loose-fitting V-necked bodice with a gently gathered shoulder and back. The slightly puffed sleeve is gathered at the shoulder; choose between a short sleeve, or a long sleeve with wrist pleats for shaping and an elastic gathered cuff. The neckline is finished with a neat bias binding which is complimented by the delicate rouleau button loops at the centre front. We've included covered buttons with this kit for an extra special touch, which really enhance the beautiful fabric.

Full of beautiful, colourful flowers and foliage, chosen by Lauren for their special meaning and connection to the g&g story, the 'Bee Happy Blooms' print truly evokes the joy of spring!
This kit includes enough fabric to make the long sleeved, full length version of the dress.
Our Cream Bee Happy Blooms Viscose Poplin is a Guthrie & Ghani exclusive - a soft, breathable fabric that perfectly blends elegance and playfulness in a charming floral bee design.
Created by Lauren in collaboration with surface pattern designer Rachel Parker, this cream version of Bee Happy Blooms features details which represent important elements of Lauren's life and the g&g story, such as plants with her children's names, the Lauren Peony and a cute little bumble bee. The soft cream base colour makes the print pop while maintaining a sophisticated look that works beautifully across seasons.

Made from 100% Ecovero viscose, this fabric offers a sustainable alternative to traditional viscose, created from certified renewable wood sources with a lower environmental impact. It has a beautiful drape, a smooth hand feel and is breathable due to the viscose fibres. This fabric has a weight of 110 g/m².
The Nicks Dress and Blouse pattern included in the kit is yours to keep. Not only will you have the full sized A0 print out, with all the variations and styles inside your kit box, you also have access to the PDF files for your future reference. This means you can remake the Nicks in different fabrics and combinations long after your dress is complete - yay!
The Nicks Dress and Blouse from Closet Core Patterns is designed to inject a little bohemian glamour into your wardrobe! In multiple variations with soft gathering and delicate details, it's satisfying to make and a pleasure to wear.
All views feature a loose-fitting V-necked bodice with a gently gathered shoulder and yoke. The slightly puffed sleeve is gathered at the shoulder; choose between a short sleeve, or a long sleeve with wrist pleats for shaping and an elastic gathered cuff.
You may also choose between two interchangeable neckline finishes: a simple facing, or a bias-bound neckline with delicate rouleau button loops and buttons. View A is a button-front dress with a comfortable elastic waist, long or short sleeves, and three gathered skirt tiers.
The pattern also includes two blouse options: View B is a voluminous swing tunic with a gathered hip tier and long or short sleeves. View C is an elegant blouse with a faced neckline and long or short sleeves.
This pattern is available in two size ranges: US 0-20 (B Cup) and US 14-32 (D Cup). If you are unsure about what dressmakers cup size you are, please check out this article and note that it is different to what bra size you might wear.
We think it's worth noting that this pattern has a LOT of positive ease - that means it's designed to be fitted loose on the body. If you prefer a closer fit then you might consider sizing down by 1-2 sizes. There is more guidance on this in Laurens hints and tips video. In the modelled images the samples have been sized down by 2 sizes.

She shares her hints and tips on getting a really lovely finish on your garment including advice on working with viscose fabrics, how to bind a neckline, how to create covered buttons, how to gather fabric, how to insert a sleeve and much more!
The video has over 53 minutes of footage over 2 videos, sectioned out with time stamps/chapters for easy reference and navigation.

This pattern is aimed at intermediate sewers due to the accuracy needed for certain parts of construction such as the rouleau loops and the gathered shoulder seam section that fits into the lined back yoke.
The slippery viscose fabric does add a level of trickiness to this project, though Lauren's videos are packed with extra tips on making the fabric as easy to work with as possible.
To complete this project successfully you'll need a regular sewing machine along with Lauren's essential recommended sewing tools.
A walking foot for your sewing machine is useful for working with the viscose fabric and a pressing cloth will help protect the fabric during ironing.
A loop turner (linked below) also makes creating the rouleau loops for the buttons much easier and how you use this handy tool is demonstrated in the video along with an alternative method using a needle and thread.
