The Moss Jacket is the perfect layering piece that is easy to throw on to work with the rest of your wardrobe. It is a relaxed-fit jacket with a dropped shoulder and is designed to be worn open, giving it a casual and effortless look.
Moss has roomy pockets and a back yoke detail. It features options for a wide folded collar or a slim external front band, and we’ve also made it with a half width collar, giving more front coverage without the thickness of the full folded collar (as shown in white).
Customise the features depending on the style you want to wear; opt for long sleeves and a wide band if you feel the chill in the evenings, or keep it summery with mid length sleeves and the external front facing. Moss is unlined, without set-in sleeves, which makes it a straightforward sew. It also has the benefit of very minimal fitting!
We’ve also included an element of luxury in this kit with some gorgeous Liberty Tana Cotton Lawn fabric. This fabric can be used to line the back yoke and Lauren also provides instructions for lining the pockets in it.
All hip length views can be made in any of the fabrics. Please note this is a re-release of our original kit in our ramie fabric only. The ramie colours are slightly different to the modelled photos, please see details in the Fabric section below.
This kit is available in two colours of our gorgeous ramie fabrics: teal and punch pink.
The ramie fabrics are non-stretch and have a slubbed, textured surface that is more raised than linen fabric, giving a really rustic, characterful appearance to the fabric. It feels a bit thicker and heavier than a medium weight linen and is overall a more structured fabric, but still not stiff. This fabric is 70% ramie and 30% cotton with a GSM of 255.
Also included in this kit is a length of Liberty Tana Lawn to line the pockets and back yoke, which coordinates beautifully with the outer fabric. Renowned for it's quality, Tana Lawn™ is an ultra-fine fabric with a silk-like touch, unique print quality and striking colour vibrancy. It is 100% cotton.
Ramie fabric is similar to linen fabric but it is derived from the stem of nettle plants, also known as China grass. It is very absorbent, strong - even when wet, breathable, durable and is also anti-bacterial.

This pattern is available in sizes: US 0-34 (bust 30”-60”)
Lauren sized down by one size on her knit versions and the ramie versions are made as per her measurements.

- 1 reel of matching Gutermann thread, shade 223 (teal) or 81 (pink) - if you don't have an overlocker and plan to use the same thread for finishing off seam allowances, we suggest you purchase an extra reel or use a similar shade left over from another project.

She shares her hints and tips on getting a really lovely finish on your garment including how to line the pockets, how to reposition the pockets for View A, how to sew flat fell seams, how to construct the burrito yoke and much more. She also discusses how the jacket can be made up in a knit fabric, giving your pattern extra mileage!
The video has over 52 minutes of footage, sectioned out with time stamps/chapters for easy reference and navigation.

This pattern is aimed at advanced beginner dressmakers.
Techniques include sewing pockets, sewing a the front collar or facing and lining the yoke.
To complete this project successfully you'll need a regular sewing machine along with Lauren's essential recommended sewing tools.
