The Wave Float Top is a playful and easy to wear top, which you’ll love swishing around in!
The top is designed to have a wide oversized fit with a dropped peplum ruffle at the front and a high peplum at the back, which creates a lovely ‘wave’ effect around the top.
The ruffle gives the top a light, swingy silhouette which pairs really well with high waisted trousers or jeans. It’s also really comfortable to wear as the weather starts warming up! If you’d prefer a longer look to your top, we’ve included a little extra fabric in the kits to lengthen the peplum.
The Wave Float Top has grown on sleeves which are simple to sew and are finished off with a slim cuff. In her accompanying video, Lauren demonstrates an alternative method for sewing these cuffs which gives a clean and neat finish on the inside too.
In lieu of staystitching, we’ve included forming tape interfacing in this kit and in her tips video Lauren shows you how to use this to easily and accurately stay the cut fabric. This is a great way of preventing your fabric from getting stretched out - another technique to add to your sewing toolkit!
We’re also delighted that this kit features fabric from the second part of our limited edition Vintage Bauhaus fabrics which have been designed by Lauren in collaboration with Rachel Parker. The bold colours and shapes of these fabrics, paired with their whimsical designs are the perfect match for the Wave Float Top!
The photographed samples are made to the pattern’s original length, but there is enough fabric in this kit to lengthen the top by approximately 10cm.

We’ve got three gorgeous fabric options for this kit (which are all very apt given the name of the top!): Azure Blue Swimmers, Teal Swimmers and Pink Floats
These three prints are all from the second part of our exclusive Vintage Bauhaus collection, which was created by Lauren in collaboration with surface pattern designer Rachel Parker.
These three brand new prints are inspired by the clean lines and distinct shapes of Bauhaus art. Bold geometric silhouettes are combined with playful elements to give fun details to the designs.
The Bauhuas Swimmers print sees swimmers relaxing as they float in the water over vintage bauhaus inspired shapes and tiles. The Floats print plays on the Bauhaus theme of geometric shapes, with a scattered design that's reminiscent of swim floats drifting in the water.
All the prints are on our new viscose poplin base. This fabric is 100% viscose with a weight of 115gsm, meaning it drapes beautifully and really suits the loose, swishy nature of the top.
To see the fabrics close up check out the video in the main gallery above.
