Our Greek Summer Window Display Tour

and Goddess Fabric Collection Launch Event Round-up!

Our Summer window display in the shop is always one of the big ones - a chance to celebrate and lap up that gorgeous sunshine that streams through the big bay window of the shop and showcase inspiring project ideas for all your summer sewing!

With this year's theme all about our brand new and exclusive g&g Goddess Fabric collection, it’s been a joy to see the fabric come to life in the window display!

Check out my latest Youtube video for a full tour and closer look at all the garments and outfits along with a round up of the special summer event we held in the shop and studio to mark the launch of the new fabrics and the start of summer sewing dreams!

The Garments

Featuring the fabrics from my new Goddess Collection, which is on a lush viscose, linen and cotton base cloth, makes all of these makes perfect for summer.

The True Bias Southport Dress

We chose the Blue Ariadne design for this classic summer sun dress, that can be made with a maxi or short length. It has a casing at the waist for a tie to go through that you can adjust for ease and comfort in warm weather. Finish it off with matching buttons that we have had especially made to match the fabric and soak up those rays!

The Tilly and the Buttons Samara Top and the Closet Core Sepia trousers/pants

I love this outfit combo! We choose the Delphi tile design for the simple shape of the samara, perfect for a bolder print like this and the Lapis blue enzyme linen fabric for these lovely trousers that has a double pocket detail and comfy elasticated waistband with fluted paper bag detail at the top.

The Closet Core Fran Summer Set

To represent one of our Sewing Society kit options, this Fran set is perfect for summer with the shorter sleeves. Pair it with a simple vest top and wear it open to let in the breeze and keep the sun off your shoulders. I love it in the pink colourway of the the Ariadne print!

The Megan Nielsen Darling Ranges Dress

Our Bougainvillea Island print pairs perfectly with the Darling ranges. This is version C, a modern take on a classic shirt dress with a gentle a-line shape that swishes, while the belt adds optional shape and fit at the waist.

The details

The Bougianvillea flowers, taken from our Island print, are  teaming down from the ceiling and make such a striking impact. Jo also hand painted pretty little houses with their vibrant blue roofs, windows and doors to make a cute bunting, bringing the print to life even more!

We had symbols and icons from the fabrics blown up onto posters too, giving a chance for the details in these designs to be really highlighted!

The Event

To celebrate the launch of the new fabric collection and mark the start of summer here at g&g we hosted a wonderful open event for all our customers to come along to the shop and studio to see the fabrics and kits for the very first time! The g&g team and I have worked super hard over the last few months, bringing all the details together to make it the most fun day ever!!

Up in the studio was our main fabric and kit showcase with the fabrics and samples of the kits hanging up for everyone to have a good feel, hold the fabrics up in front of the mirror and start planning some exciting new dressmaking projects!

We had fizz and delicious homemade lemonade using my own secret recipe and cute cup cakes personalised with details from the fabric. My daughter Sophia did a great job helping everyone make their very own little badge using the new fabrics as a special souvenir of the day!

It was so lovely to see our amazing customers all in their handmade outfits. We held a special customer and staff showcase catwalk in the shop - everyone looked fantastic!!

There was lots of fun at the Greek photo booth with fun props made using symbols from the fabric and lots of you took part in the Greek Bingo game where you could win one of our special goddess woven labels to sew into your next project!

Seeing the shop full of the joy and excitement of our customers browsing and planning their projects is such a special moment and why the team and I love creating new fabrics for you and holding events where we can all meet up!

To those of you who made it along on the day or joined me live online that evening for the online launch THANK YOU SO MUCH! I wish you lots of happy sewing times this summer!!
