Wildflower Window

Jo has created new window to celebrate the release of the Leana Collection, and I have to say, it’s one of those displays that instantly lifts your mood when you walk past.

It’s inspired by the Scottish wildflowers you’ll spot in the Flur fabrics, and Jo really wanted it to feel like stepping into a wildflower meadow. There’s something about that mix of colour and softness that just feels so joyful and full of life, which ties in beautifully with the fabrics themselves!

The oversized handmade tissue paper flowers are such a lovely touch too. They bring in that handcrafted feel we all love, and they add a bit of scale and playfulness to the window. With the sunshine coming through and all those gorgeous summer fabrics on display, the whole shop just feels brighter.

It’s the kind of window that makes you start thinking about easy, feel good summer sewing. Pieces that are light, wearable and full of personality, where the fabric really gets to shine.

Named Clothing, Hali Wrap Dress

Look at this beautiful floral wrap dress, it’s such a perfect example of easy summer sewing that still feels really special.

This is the Hali Wrap Dress by Named Clothing, made up in our Flur Posy viscose linen fabric from the Lèana collection. If you’re looking for a wrap dress sewing pattern that combines lovely details with comfort, this is such a great option.

It features a semi fitted wrap bodice with a flattering V neck and a back yoke for a really nice fit across the shoulders. The wrap tie means you can adjust it to suit you, which is always a bonus.

The voluminous, ankle length circle skirt gives it beautiful movement, especially in a fabric like this, and yes, it has side pockets. The ¾ length sleeves with gently gathered openings finish it off perfectly.

The floral fabric really brings it to life. The soft drape and those scattered florals through the gathers make it ideal for holidays, everyday wear or something a little bit more dressed up.

Guthrie & Ghani, Lèana Blouse

Next up in the window is the Lèana Blouse, shown in two of our Flùr fabrics, each highlighting a different side of the pattern.

The blouse in Flùr Dream is made with the gathered front and elasticated cuff. It’s one of those pieces that just slips easily into your wardrobe, with soft movement and a relaxed shape that’s easy to wear day to day. The Ecovero viscose is fluid and cool, making it perfect for blouses you’ll reach for again and again.

Alongside it, the Flùr Posy version features pintucks and a shirred cuff, bringing a little more texture and detail. The viscose linen blend has slightly more structure, which helps those details stand out while still feeling light and summery.

It’s a lovely example of how the same pattern can feel quite different depending on your fabric and finish, both equally wearable, just with a slightly different look.

Both versions are available as kits, or you can choose the pattern and make it your own.

everyday staple trousers

Jo has styled the blouses with a couple of really versatile wardrobe staples, which makes it easy to picture how they’d fit into your everyday outfits.

The Flint trousers by Megan Nielsen are made up in our moss bamboo blended twill, which has a really soft feel while still holding its shape nicely. Alongside that, we’ve got the Ginger Jeans by Closet Core Patterns in Cone Mills denim, which add that classic, structured contrast to the softer blouse.

If you’re inspired by the jeans, we also have our Cone Mills denim supplies bundle, which is perfect if you’re planning your own pair. It includes all those essential bits you need and works for any stretch jeans pattern, so it’s a really handy one to have if you’re diving into denim sewing.

It’s a great example of how the Lèana Blouse can be styled in different ways, depending on what you reach for most in your wardrobe.

Sew Liberated, Ember dress

Also in the window is the Ember Dress, made in our Flùr Meadow fabric.

It has a relaxed, easy fit with a soft V neckline and a flowing skirt, with waist ties that let you gently shape it how you like. It’s the kind of dress you can pull on and feel comfortable in straight away, without it feeling overly loose or oversized.

The Meadow print works beautifully here, with the fuller floral design really opening out across the skirt. In the Ecovero viscose, it has that lovely fluid drape and movement, which makes it feel light and effortless to wear.

It’s a lovely piece for summer, perfect for those slightly more special occasions, while still being something you can wear more casually too with a more casual fabric pairing. It’s also a great pattern to come back to in different fabrics, so you can make versions that work right through the seasons.

You can recreate this version with the full project kit, or choose the pattern and pair it with your own fabric.

I hope you’ve enjoyed a little wander through our latest window, it really is a celebration of those Scottish wildflowers and the beautiful Lèana collection, and hopefully it’s sparked a few ideas for your own sewing too.

It’s always so important for us to show these garments made up in the fabrics we’ve chosen, not just because they look lovely together, but to help you visualise what you might create with something from your own stash or a fabric you’ve spotted on the shelves at g&g.

As this blog goes out right at the start of the season, some fabrics and kits may sell through quickly. We’ll be reordering anything that goes out of stock, so if something has caught your eye, do sign up for stock notifications and we’ll let you know as soon as it’s back in.
